Employee Volunteer Programs

Each year, Northrop Grumman Space Technology employees give countless hours to hundreds of organizations in our communities and in the cities in which they live. From math tutoring to reseeding a local park, the opportunities are limitless and make a difference in the lives of so many around us.  The Community Service Grant Program provides grants to qualifying non-profit organizations in the name of an employee who volunteers with the organization

NGST's Volunteer Program highlights one event a month in which an employee can participate or get involved

"Let's Help"
These projects are a coordinated effort by groups of employees who commit a day or a weekend to repairing, upgrading, or improving a local school, park, or other facility.  Our community outreach efforts include numerous partnerships with professional and academic organizations.  Space Technology budgets thousands of dollars each year for community outreach projects. A team of representatives from the Space Technology AAP/Diversity Council selects local non-profit organizations or schools who need help completing cosmetic or structural work at their facility and who would normally not have the resources to do so. In past years, Space Technology employees have volunteered their time to plant parks, repaint homeless shelters, build recreation rooms and beautify school grounds.

Thanksgiving Food Drive
Space Technology AAP/Diversity Office supports an annual Thanksgiving food drive that is held in mid November. Employees donate food items for distribution to local families who are in need of extra support during the holiday season, in addition Space Technology provides the staple food items for a traditional Thanksgiving meal.  Each year, with the help of Space Technology?s generous employees, we feed more than 400 families for the holiday.

Toy Drive
Space Technology's Native American Caucus sponsors and coordinates a Christmas toy drive. Hundreds of new toys are collected through donations from our generous employees and given to the Southern California Indian Center (SCIC) for distribution to needy Native American children in the southern California area. This wonderful event makes the holiday season a little brighter for several hundred children and teens each year.

School Supply Drive
Over 100 large boxes of school supplies are donated annually to local disadvantaged K-8 school districts including Hawthorne, Lawndale and Lennox through Space Technology's  School Supplies drive sponsored by ADELANTE, Space Technology's Hispanic employees network group and the AAP and Diversity Office. The school supplies drive is held in August in order to provide students with the appropriate materials they will need for a successful school year.

Partners in Education
This program seeks to improve the quality of education to partnered schools. Space Technology supports fourteen inner city schools with volunteers, monetary contributions and programming. We provide Space Camp scholarships, an annual KidsScience Expo, teacher grants, volunteers to judge science fairs, Space Park facility tours and much more.

Employees Charity Organization "ECHO"
Employees Charity Organization (ECHO) was established in 1956 to meet the needs of our employees to contribute to charitable and nonprofit organizations through workplace giving.  Fifty years later, ECHO continues to support a wide variety of nonprofit organizations in our communities nationwide.  In 2005, ECHO donated nearly $1.75 Million to employee-designated charities and ECHO General Fund grants including $100,000 to aid the victims of the Southeast Asia Tsunami and $130,000 to assist in disaster relief after Hurricanes Katrina and Rita devastated the Gulf Coast region.
