TR107 Main Engine
Northrop Grumman is developing the TR107 main engine for NASA's SLI to provide primary propulsion for the Earth-to-orbit stage of future reusable launch vehicles. The TR107 is a 1-million pound thrust class liquid oxygen/kerosene engine that operates on an oxidizer-rich staged combustion (ORSC) cycle.
Northrop Grumman's enabling technologies for meeting NASA's demanding SLI goals include a duct-cooled main chamber, preburner pintle injector, and materials that don’t require coatings for the oxidizer-rich environment. These technologies minimize parts count for greater reliability and operability and minimize cycle pressures to increase life though design margin.
