Whatever the mission, whatever the orbit, Northrop Grumman Space Technology provides high-performance, stable platforms and systems that are adaptable and affordable for a variety of defense, communications and civil applications. Our spacecraft platforms use many advanced technologies to make them affordable and adaptable for these different missions. We’ve invested considerably in next-generation spacecraft avionics. And we continue to produce the structures that hold the spacecraft together and the propulsion systems that propel spacecraft into orbit.

From small, one-pound thrusters to big, complex engines, our propulsion systems are advanced and application-driven. Among our electric power technologies are multi-junction GaAs solar arrays, lithium ion batteries and high-speed composite flywheels.

Our lightweight structures are the building blocks for telescopes, antennas and spacecraft. We specialize in materials that are self-assembling, super-damping and self-healing. We offer elastic memory composites as well as nanocomposites. And our deployables and control structures are world-class. Our deployable structures have proven reliable and stable enough to win a contract for the world’s first deployable space telescope, JWST, the James Webb Space Telescope.

As our customers move to open architectures, we can draw upon our heritage programs, recent awards as well as our investments in future technologies to provide best-value solutions. We continue to invest in revolutionary designs and breakthrough technologies. And we’re forming stronger partnerships and collaborations to share innovations and demonstrate future mission opportunities. Our aim is to improve performance and increase producibility and interoperability while minimizing costs and risks.
