Internships



Having students as part of our workforce, whether for the summer or intermittently throughout the school year, is exciting and beneficial both for the company and students. We welcome your energy, enthusiasm, and new ideas as you get familiar with our environment, technology, and people.

Internships are available to first year Master?s students, junior and sophomore undergrads, and those between undergraduate and graduate work. To be considered for our program, intern candidates must be:

  • Enrolled full-time in an accredited college or university
  • Working to complete their undergraduate, graduate, or doctorate degree
  • Pursuing a field of study that is consistent with Northrop Grumman?s needs for an intern assignment, typically Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or Math
  • Maintaining an average GPA of 3.0 or higher throughout their college careers
  • Able to provide proof of U.S. citizenship upon employment.

Our interns work during summer breaks, typically beginning in May or June and ending in July or August. They typically work 40 hours a week during the summer and up to 20 hours a week during the academic year if they are attending a local school. The internship program includes a summer relocation housing package for those moving from more than 50 miles from their work location. Selected benefits are also provided to intern summer hires.

We intend for our internship program to a key resource for full time hires after graduation. To that end, we want to maximize the experience by assuring that you begin to see the link between what you are learning in school and its application to world class, state of the art programs while working side by side with industry experts and personal mentors.

Our Summer Intern Program is a cornerstone of our recruiting and educational strategy. Evidenced by the involvement of our highest levels of management, we provide a challenging technical experience, opportunities to learn about Northrop Grumman, our programs, culture, and environment, as well as social and networking opportunities.
