Since the early 1980s, Space Technology has pioneered innovative human resource policies and practices to attract and retain a high quality workforce. Working with federal and state legislators, we have supported labor laws that permit and promote maximum flexibility for employees. We offer a number of alternative work schedules at all locations including flextime, part-time, job sharing, telecommuting, and several compressed workweek options.

Space Technology respects and understands the challenge of balancing work and family demands in these dynamic and fast-paced times. For its unique programs and its ongoing efforts to help employees maintain balanced lives, we have received widespread praise, including being recognized eight times on the list of the “100 Best Companies for Working Mothers” by Working Mother magazine.

Some of Space Technology’s innovative programs are:

  • Flextime
    Exempt employees may flex their work schedule over a two-week payroll period. This “Flex 80” policy was created in response to feedback from employees requesting help in balancing the demands of work and personal life.
  • Job Sharing
    Two employees share a common job but work at different times. Although each employee works part-time, the job still gets done.
  • On-site Day Care
    Space Technology’s Launching Pad is one of the largest infant childcare programs in the United States. It provides Infant/Toddler, Pre-school, Pre-K, and Kindergarten programs for children of employees.
  • Summer Camp
    The Launching Pad offers a Summer Camp program for employees’ children ages 6-12. Arts and crafts, cooking activities, and a curriculum based on “Leap into Literacy” are some of the program highlights. A hot lunch and snack are included along with weekly field trips to amusement parks and the beach.

Other programs include Elder Care and Child Care Resource and Referral; lactation program and parenting library, employee assistance program, and insurance and related benefits that are comprehensive and flexible to meet the variety of needs of our employees as working parents, single parents, or part of extended families.
