Northrop Grumman Ships NASA's Aqua Earth Observatory
Northrop Grumman shipped the Aqua spacecraft to Vandenberg Air Force Base for launch preparation. Aqua, the latest in the Earth Observing System (EOS) series, will collect measurements of rainfall, snow, sea ice, temperature, humidity, vegetation, soil moisture and clouds as part of NASA's long-term, coordinated research study of changes in the global enivronment. Northrop Grumman is building two EOS spacecraft, Aqua and Aura, based on a common spacecraft design that accommodates two entirely different instrument suites needed to perform their respective EOS missions.
