Multi-layer insulation blankets are wrapped around the Hyperion hyperspectral imaging instrument at Northrop Grumman's Space Park Facility. Hyperion will be integrated onto the Earth Observing-1 (EO-1) spacecraft and launched from Vandenberg Air Force Base, California. EO-1 will demonstrate advanced land imaging instruments, such as Hyperion, and high payoff spacecraft technologies as a part of the NASA's New Millennium Program. Hyperion is the newest hyperspectral imaging instrument developed by Northrop Grumman, and will be the first hyperspectral instrument to orbit the Earth from space.
