Vancouver, British Columbia — March 17, 2006: Zecotek Medical Systems (TSXV: ZMS) will license its proprietary Lutetium Fine Silicate (LFS) scintillation crystal material to Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE: NOC) under a 20-year exclusive license agreement the two companies signed recently. Developed principally for medical imaging markets, the crystal allows Northrop Grumman to expand its laser crystal product line in this growth area.

According to the exclusive agreement signed with Zecotek, Northrop Grumman will promote, market, manufacture, distribute and sell the LFS product worldwide through Synoptics, a business unit of the company’s Space Technology sector, based in Charlotte, N.C.

Zecotek’s proprietary LFS scintillation crystal is a new scintillation material for use in medical imaging systems and other industrial applications. It is a high performance scintillation crystal, developed principally for manufacturers of Positron Emission Tomography (PET) and PET-CT (computed tomography) scanners used to provide diagnostic information for patients in relation to oncological, cardiac and neurological conditions.

It can also be employed for other uses including homeland security, such as port and harbor security for baggage and container screening; product analysis to detect defective food and products; radiation detection for workplace health and security; drug testing, and mineral exploration.

"This Agreement is a significant step in the LFS product evolution," noted Dr. Faouzi Zerrouk, Zecotek’s chairman, president and chief executive officer. "Not only does Synoptics have the expertise to grow the LFS with optimal results, it has the capacity to produce and deliver the required quantities to meet customer needs. In addition, Synoptics has a well-developed
worldwide sales force and distribution network."

According to Joe Rutherford, Synoptics’ vice president and general manager, "Synoptics is the world’s leader in growing crystal materials for military, industrial, and medical applications. We expect to begin manufacturing LFS scintillation crystal at our Charlotte facility within six months, which will help meet increasing demand in the medical imaging markets."
