Brief History As one of the largest recipients of DARPA technology development funding for advanced semiconductor technology development, Northrop Grumman Space Technology has a 35 year heritage of delivering high performance, reliable microelectronics. Northrop Grumman Space Technology heritage in the broadband wireless, wideband communication systems, automotive and VSAT markets began in 1992 as the TRW Space & Electronics MMIC Products Office (MPO). MPO underwent several name changes including GaAs Telecomm Products (GTP) and Wireless Telecomm Products (WTP). In May of 2001, TRW Space & Electronics launched a separate operating unit named Velocium. Following the merger of TRW and Northrop Grumman, Velocium was re-organized as Velocium Products, a business unit of Northrop Grumman Space Technology. In October 2007 Northrop Grumman Space Technology entered into a strategic agreement with Hittite Microwave Corporation to license Northrop Grumman's Velocium Product line of Monolithic Microwave Integrated Circuits (MMIC) and related intellectual property. Under the agreement, NGST licensed to Hittite a specified list of standard products with a frequency of operation through 86 GHz, with Northrop Grumman continuing to sell and develop products above 86 GHz.
